Clerkenwell Design Week 2014June 6, 2014
The fifth annual Clerkenwell Design Week got underway recently and boy, did it pack a punch for creativity.
Kicking off our visit was the amazing ‘Tile Mile’ by Russ and Henshaw who turned St. John’s Gate into a cornucopia of clashing colour and parallel mirrors. Mind-bending madness.
Next up was the section called ‘Detail’ held at The Order of St. John. We spent an age marvelling at the Poltrone Armchairs by Edra. Majestically displayed in the medieval crypt. We particularly liked the hand crafted interlacing that was involved in making the Vermella chair by the Campana Brothers ( in red, pictured here).
We gave the crypt top marks for atmospheric location and the furniture displayed there could not have been more appropriate.
On our way out of the crypt, we discovered the amazing British lighting company ‘Ochre’ who produce incredible lighting installations made from organic materials. Really hypnotic and beautiful. Definitely a company to watch out for.
Lighting is a particular passion for us here at Lewis and Co so we were keen to head past the Jaguar Car installation straight to the ‘Light Years’ floor at the Design Factory.
There we found that the trend for reclaimed material still gathers pace though we were more interested in the functional and liable beauty of Artemide…
However, our favourites this year came from Vibia whose skylights and wall arts were really inspiring.
At Lewis&Co we have experience of handling every aspect of interior design projects of all sizes. Please feel free to talk to us at any time about how we might help you with your next project.
